Have symptoms assessed before travelling

Recurrent pain, a loose crown, pressure sores or a detached temporary restoration should not wait until the holiday. A timely examination shows whether urgent action is needed or a scheduled check-up after travel will suffice.

Pack dental care suited to your restoration

The basics include a toothbrush, fluoride toothpaste and your usual interdental care aids. For aligners, night guards or removable dentures, a sturdy case and suitable cleaning products are also useful.

Keep sweets and drinks in perspective

For teeth, frequent snacking over many hours is less favourable than enjoying something deliberately with a meal. Water as the main drink and thorough evening care are simple measures that work on holiday too.

Return calmly to your routine after the holidays

A few irregular days need no radical response. Brush morning and evening, clean between teeth appropriately and resume agreed appliance wear times. Persistent symptoms need checking.
